In 1690, Coffee House Lane, adjacent to the then busy trading port of Waterford, boasted what was long considered Ireland's very first coffee house. Coffee beans from all over the world were traded at Waterford Harbour, before being carefully roasted and brewed for Waterford's elite at John Aikenhead's Coffee House, located on Coffee House Lane. Through his passion for coffee, Mark Bergin brought the tradition of coffee roasting back to Waterford.
