Our fairy tale

This fairy tale started while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee.

Started small, grew into a giant coffee fanatic! This always friendly giant is only dangerously sharp, because Henk has the best prices!

It all started more than 10 years ago in the small Twente village of Noord-Deurningen on the border with Germany. On this German border, the coffee cartel was in power with real stunt prices for coffee. The friendly then little Henk thought, I can do this too, but I'm going to sell it online throughout Europe. In the beginning this was a lot of work for Henk to put all the products on his website. This took a lot of time and energy, but after the first products were online, the first orders also came in. In the beginning these were still a few orders per day, but after a year there were soon dozens and after a few years this went to hundreds. Henk grew and grew and he no longer fit in the then location. He converted a farmer's barn and this became the warehouse. But how did Henk manage to do this? During the corona period, people started looking for alternatives to buy their coffee, so they soon found Henk's website and saw that they could easily order coffee online. This was then delivered to people's homes as soon as possible after ordering. Because Henk had more space in his large warehouse, Henk was able to add more and more products to his website and the range of coffee has expanded enormously. Where Henk started with a few types of coffee beans, there are now more than 300 and the total articles are still being expanded. Everyone now knows about inflation and Henk tries to counter this as best he can by keeping prices as low as possible. The friendly Henk thinks a low price is very nice for his customers!

Henk can be compared to a coffee plant and grows again every year! We hope to continue this growth and deliver you a delicious cup of coffee at home!

Sustainability

Buy coffee in a sustainable way with Coffeehenk

We think it is important to work in a sustainable way. Read here how Coffeehenk contributes to creating a better world;

We reuse our boxes multiple times, for example, coffee beans that come out of a box are reused to send packages.

Glass products (e.g. pots of instant coffee) are packaged in plastic, this plastic often comes from suppliers' deliveries and we will not purchase new plastic for this. We pack this with plastic so there is less chance of damage. This saves returns and new shipments.

We have separate waste bins for our residual waste. We separate cardboard from plastic. We also reuse this residual waste when packing our orders so that there is less chance of damage and therefore less chance of a return or new shipment.

We use a minimum order amount of €25. It is not sustainable to send, for example, only 1 pack of coffee.

We use 34 solar panels, so we generate our energy in a sustainable way.

Our employees who have to travel a little further to our workplace always carpool with each other, so not everyone comes to work separately by car, but they drive together, the employees who live nearby come by bicycle as standard.

If we come across a product that is no longer salable, for example a leaking pack of coffee, but the product is still usable, we do not throw it away but deliver it to the food bank so that we know that it will end up properly.

Coffeehenk sponsors local associations and organizations so that they can continue to run their events. These events are good for society and the neighbourhood.

Sustainable coffee varieties
We buy many types of coffee that are grown and processed in an organic and fair trade way. For example, coffee that is UTZ certified or has the Rainforest Alliance quality mark.

Organic coffee
This means that the coffee is grown organically. The coffee farmers grow the coffee under natural conditions, without the addition of non-natural fertilizers.

Fair trade coffee
Fairtrade helps farmers and workers in developing countries. By buying fair trade coffee beans you support a sustainable future for farmers and workers in developing countries. In addition to being a quality mark, Fairtrade is also a global movement, they stand for equal opportunities for everyone. You can recognize Fairtrade coffee by the Max Havelaar / Fairtrade logo on the packaging.
